The Band
After reading the first site it's obviously, what we are, isn't it? But for those, who are too curious for this world, we've opened some nice facts about our band its current staff and former members. We start with our more or less fixed and current staff.
Nadine
She's the head, the founder and the organisator of the project. These days, also the youngest one. Originally, she comes from producing electronic music, but since 2005 she wants to improve her skills on handmade music like Pop, Rock etc. and liked it so much, that "The Verge" was founded by her and her collaborators.
Member since:: The very beginning
Tasks: Organitation, webmaster, coverdesign, producing, engl. songwriting, joking around...
Instruments: Keys (e.g. Piano, Organ, Synth), trying quite a lot of other stuff.

Horace D.
At the age of 16, he started playing guitar. He played in a grunge band in the 90ties, but it broke up after one year. After quite a long time, without having a band, he reentered music with homerecording and a unplugged project. As this band had no singer, he tried it. He has a lot of collaboration projects, where he works as singer or guitarist. He's a member since the very beginning and contributed vocals and guitar on our debut song "Let me go".
Member since:: The very beginning
Tasks: Singing, songwriting
Instruments: Guitar, bass
Stefan
In his younger days, Stefan used to play guitar in a Munich rockband. After twenty years of musical rest, he reentered with home recording. Since that time he's being the lone wolf at the computer, but nevertheless cooperating via the internet (here known as "Wishbone") is fun!
Member since:: Autumn 2008
Tasks: Fooling around with Nadine ;D
Instruments: Guitar

Martin S.
Starting with some guitar lessons, Martin came closer to songwriting. After his youth band split up, there was no singer anymore. Therefore he decided to sing. He tried out to write and sing some cheesy english stuff and came to the conclusion, that German lyrics and vocals are his real passion. He says, that he's never been a real singer, only a guy, who's fed up with dependance and waiting ^^ Now, he's songwriter and singer of a german pop-/rock band.
Member since:: Winter 2008
Tasks: Singing, songwriting (mostly German)
Instruments: Guitar
The Collaborators
This section is for all people, who worked partly on 1 or 2 tracks, but are no "real" members, but really good helpers outside the band. We'd like to thank:
Martin B. (for the nice hookline on Open Ended Cue)
Harvey (for correcting the rap on Open Ended Cue)
About The Verge
The name "The Verge" is chosen because of its ambiguous meanings. Nearly all lyrics contain a lot of thought of people who are "on the verge of" (= about to) changing their state of mood or even themself. But "The Verge" also means edge, emergency lane etc. - Everything's that is not common and somehow on the outside. The second meaning of this word could be seen as description of our music and our situation: Somehow independent, somehow innovative, on the edge but not on the outside.
The idea
The idea of "The Verge" came in the end of 2006. Nadine, the founder of this project, is a young producer and songwriter who's known more in synthetic electronic music. As she had the strong desire to fulfil her dreams, actually, producing music using real instruments, she searched for collaborators, who love new ideas of music aswell. The number of projects increased and split into two major genres: On the one hand pop and on the other hand rock. As she is very frank to new ideas, she thought: "Yes, why don't we make a project out of it, a so-called internet-band?!" and that's how "The Verge" was founded. All started with some melancholic lyrics and songs Nadine wrote, which were redirected by the members and developped to a complete band, where nearly everyone is involved.
How does that work?!
Basically "The Verge" consists of people, who're searching some tasks outside their bands and musicians, singers and songwriters, who like to work together with other people. We're mostly home recorders and we live on different places, some of us, produce their own music and/or have an own band. Someone starts with a riff, a text or some vocals and everything's developped around it. Due to newest technologic we're able to present and work on audio listings. There are no strict rules, except "Do neither destroy nor steal the work of others!". Without these restrictions, this project would not work properly. As open-minded as we are, we're frank to nearly every new idea. All members decide about the style of the piece of music with the exact chose of the instruments, the interpretation etc. Will it be more grungy? Are we already doing some pop? More melancholic perhaps? More happy? What are the topics we're writing about? You can see, it's nearly all like in an "reallife"-Band, just without practising garage. Our conversation is mostly done in the forums, via e-mail etc. As "The Verge" can be seen as a band with alternating members, this does not mean, that our style is about-facing with new singers and instrumentalists.
Our philosophy and the future plans
At first: We love music, because it is a the best way to touch the inside, to free our thoughts, to interact, and to communicate. We try to write lyrics who let people think about their lives and we try to make music with intense feeling. If music does not make that much fun, it was impossible to write such deep melodies and lyrics and to sing it in an affecting way. Of course, our second wish is to enlarge our circle of listeners and to transport all these feelings and thoughts to them. And if you love deep and intense music and are not focussed on only one style - You'll love "The Verge".
